Slide out retiming

We have a 2017 Vista LX 35f. Our big slide on the drivers side doesn't retract completely. The back of the slide retracts flush. The front of the slide behind the drivers window has about a 1 inch gap. We were told to retract it completely and then extend it about 8 - 10 inches and then retract again. We were told to do this 3 times to retiming the motors. Has anyone else ever had to do this?

Aren't you still in warranty?

Factory told us the same thing on our 2016 Vista LX 27N. It worked but did not stop later problems that required two trips to Forest City and two other trips to Dealers to repair and replace Powergear hardware. Sold it after the 4th time.

Schwintek electric slides - the two drive motors positioning is resynced by the 3x in/out action.

So based on the above responses it would be wise to document the problem with your dealer and the factory. Let them propose a solution- probably the same 3× fix. If it works great. If not , or it recurs, you at least have it documented.
Good luck

So how has all this worked out? My solution was to trade after 5 times and 6 months of down time.

With a new RV, your best friend should be the Owners Manual and the manuals for the installed systems - all in the Winnebago package. You should go thru it cover to cover. Initially, its unlikely that anyone can absorb all that is in it. I suggest you keep it nearby as it is only a matter of time until you find some issues that have to be corrected right away. Both issues you have raised are well covered in the manual and reading those sections now with the advice you received here, will give you a thorough understanding of the systems in the coach. There is not much that you cannot fix yourself nor are any issues likely to arise that others here haven't encountered. Good luck with your new coach and have fun!

Unfortunately, our owners manual references the product manuals, but there aren't any! Just the big black folder containing the Winnebago manuals nothing for the Whirlpool Appliance in the norcold refrigerator the Lippert slide-out systems or anything else. Having to search in Google on my own to find those other manuals.
