Trailer plug power

I have a 2000 35U Adventurer on a F53 chassis with a 6 pin trailer connector. I changed to a 7 pin connector to match my trailer. I never checked for +12v at the old connector I just moved the wires. Now I'm missing the 12v and can't find a fuse or connection. The Winnebago diagrams are about useless for the trailer connector.

Thanks.

Jim18655-

Both the operator's manual (link here, page 6-11) and Auto Lamps Wiring Diagram (link here, sheet 3) for your coach say that it came from the factory with a 6-pin connector, wired for these five signals:

Ground
Left turn-stop
Right turn-stop
Parking lights
Backup lights

The sixth pin had nothing wired to it.

Ford did not wire a 12V charge line on the F-53 chassis. They left that up to the coach builder- in this case, Winnebago. And, in this case, it appears Winnebago did not supply a charge line, either. If your coach has one, it likely was added after the coach left the factory.

Thanks for confirming what I suspected. I was hoping someone knew where the wire labeled AAE terminated. It's in the connector and goes into the main wiring harness running toward the front. I connected a data line toner to it but can't find the feed end. I've looked through every page of the diagrams and didn't find it listed other than in the trailer connector.

The "Wiring Identification Guide" helps a little with "from-to" info for AAE:

Code:
AAE / 14 YEL FORD CHASSIS TRAILER BACKUP LAMP CIRCUIT (BLK/LT GRN) TRAILER CONNECTOR SOCKET BACKUP LAMPS
Ultimately, you need the Ford wiring diagrams to find the source of AAE, as the Winnebago Auto Lamps Wiring Diagram says (on sheet 3, zones B-4 and C-4):

Quote:
CONNECTS TO WIRE ASM-CHASSIS
and
WIRE ASM (14408) CHASSIS SUPPLIED
I have the wiring diagrams for a 2007 F-53 chassis. I have redrawn some of the wiring diagrams. Here are the pages that show the sources of Winnebago circuits TR and AAE. I suspect your coach's wiring will be similar (perhaps not the same, though), as Ford changes its chassis wiring little over the years.

Pin 4 (center) in the 6 pin should have been the charge line which I moved to pin 4 (top right on the RV connector). Maybe I read the marker wrong on the wire tonight since AAE is backup lights which shouldn't be in the 6 pin connector. This new diagrams look very helpful.
I'll look again tomorrow.
Thanks

I'll also check that wire for power when the back-up lights are on.

Well, the mystery is solved. The wire AAE is back-up lights so now that is in the correct terminal on the 7 pin plug. I had already run a temporary 12v line to the plug so now it is a permanent 12v line. I'm glad I routed it in a neat, safe way so I don't have to re-do.
The wire identification guide is printed and in my folder in the motor home. That will be a big help in future issues.
Thanks again everyone.
