We have an 06 Journey and the TV in the bedroom is always hissing when plugged into shoreline power. The TV in the bedroom is the stock (tube) TV. The one up front has been replaced with an LCD.

Just wondering if anyone else hears a hissing sound from their bedroom TV when its off? I assume its a power drain. Does anyone know of an easy place to pull a fuse or plug when we are not using the TV? (We are plugged into 50amp service 100% while at home hense my worry about power drain.)

Someday we want to replace that TV with an LCD but not right now. Just invested a boat load on replacing the main TV.

If the bedroom TV is defective, any ideas on a quick replacement that doesnt require any mod?

Thanks guys and gals!

flashajt, I have had this symptom on another TV, not in the motorhome. I believe it's a problem with the circuitry which stays 'on' so the remote can operate.

I believe you will find the plug to your TV in your laundry cabinet opposite the wall your TV is on. You can unplug it when not in use.

Sorry I don't have any good advice on a drop-in replacement, but I would recommend the move to an LCD TV capable of tuning the new digital broadcasts which will be the only off-air signal come February 2009.

I have the same noise on my 2005 journey. The sound is only from the rear TV. It does not seem to draw excessive power. I use the inverter at night when not plugged in to power the sleep number bed and the batteries hold up ok.

Thanks for the replies Don....and....Don!

Good to hear that my rear TV might not blow up pending its LCD replacement. Dont use it that much so its not urgent. Glad to know where the plug is too - never thought of looking in there! Thanks again!
