Ultimate Advantage data port

Okay, so I have decided to download the Silverleaf prograom to monitor my engine, and order data cable. The cable plugs into the data port, which is supposed to be under my dash somewhere. I think I found it, a gray round plug, but it's under the footrest and buried behind a bundle of wires. I can't see how to get to the thing, assuming it's the right plug. Any ideas? Can I access it from the small front bay under the driver's window? I have a 2002 Ultimate Advantage with a 350 Cummins.

I was only able to access it by removing the footrest and carpet. If you do get to it another way, let me know. Only took me 5 years to find it.

I would love to know how to remove the foot rest and get to it --- I have looked and looked and can not find the port. Even the people at Cummins South could not find the data port. I have a '02 Ultimate Advantage also --

First we had to pull the carpet off the foot rest, which is really glued on tight and leaves a mess when you take it off. Then there were three screws on an L shaped flange where the foot pedal is screwed to the floor. Once those are removed, you can move the foot rest out of the way. In the left corner of the panel where the firewall and side wall come together, there is a bundle of wires about six inches thick strapped together. That bundle is made up of several more individual bundles taped and strapped together. We had to cut the bundle apart to get through it and to the data port. It was a lot of work, but now that we have the Silverleaf installed and working, it was all worth it.

My 02 Horizon has the same setup, with carpet-covered footrest. After looking and feeling around the footrest, I found the atachment screws. That part was the easy part. At first, I couldn't find the gray-capped connector, and began looking on the right side of the steering column. Nope, not there, Finally began cutting ty-wraps (zip-ties), and loosening up the wire bundle. That gave me the room I needed to mover the wires, and there it was.

I re-tied the wire bungles such that they are neat, and out of the way of the connector. Stick with it; you'll find it.
