Ultimate freedom chassis

I am looking at a 1999 Ultimate Freedom. And have been told that the Freightliner chassis it is built on is one Winnebago made into a semi-monocoque chassis,if this is true how can one tell?If I understand these chassis are a lot better than standard ones used on most other coaches. I am trying to narrow my search down on coaches to get the best bang for my buck.So thanks for any help.

Go to Product Information: 1999 to download a PDF copy of the brochure for that coach. It apparently is a customized chassis, the brochure should tell you more. My '03 Ultimate is on a Spartan chassis that Winnebago added a custom center to (Spartan on both ends). They did call the Spartan version a semi-monocoque chassis.

An Ultimate definitely is a lot of bang for your bucks!

Ultimate chassis

Thanks again Chap, I don't think there are a lot of people that seem to know much about the Ultimate line .I am trying to convince myself these are comparable to some of the other coaches like Country Coach and some Newmar lines. Trying to feel comfortable with chassis and interior quality. So all input is appreciated. So after reading what Winnebago has in brochere I am still not clear if the chassis is compromable to the other coaches.

The standard Freightliner chassis has large C section frame rails running the full length of the chassis. In order to provide more basement storage, Winnebago removed the center section of these frame rails and replaced them with a space frame made of smaller square section frames above and below the basement storage. This provides larger unobstructed pass through storage bays. It is fairly straightforward mechanical engineering to design a space frame with at least as much strength and rigidity as a simple rail frame. Works good.
