I want to put one of these vent pipe "toppers" on my Itasca to vent gray water tank odors. I would like opinions/experience on both.
1st one is the RV 360® Sanitation Vent as seen at camping world (see link below):
http://www.campingworld.com/browse/skus/index.cfm?deptI...f=65,19&skunum=26177
It has a swivel top that turns into the wind.

The second is called VAC-U-JET which is a T top with a venturi in it to draw out orders (link below):
http://www.dyersonline.com/pc-1900-150-vac-u-jet.aspx

I will be using it mostly in the winter, so there will be snow on top at times. So I'm a little leery of the RV 360 because it swivels.

Comments will be appreciated.

Thanks

RVCarpenter - Welcome aboard iRV2

I'm sure someone has some information on one of the specific vent toppers that you posted and they'll post that up rather quickly.

As another alternative though, I went with a powered vent on my black tank as I used to occasionaly get odor out of the toilet when it was flushed and one of the fantastic fans was running inside the coach. It turned out that the fantastic fan tended to create a small amount of negative pressure inside the coach, and when the toilet was flushed the fumes were pulled in from the tank.

I was concerned that the static type vent wouldn't move enough air when it there was not wind blowing over the vent so I went with the Lil Stanker tank vent. Since it is powered, it is constantly moving air. Since the fan iside the vent cover is a very small muffin fan (typical of what you'd have inside your computer power supply) it is very quiet and draws very little power. Since it only consumes millieamps, you can actually leave it on all the time.

Another member did a review with pictueres in the product evaluation section yo might find interesting.

We have the RV 360® Sanitation Vent. So far it has worked as advertised, no odor in the coach when underway or stationary.

I could see where the vac-u-jet would work good while underway, but since it does not swivel, I don't see how it would help while stationary.

RVCarpenter,
My only experience is with the RV 360 (I think it is called the Xtreme Vent now). It is a quality product, well made, works, and worth the price. It can be found at several web sites. Just do a Google search on "Xtreme Vent"

Outbumn, I have the vac-u-jet and I had odor before I installed it and I have no odor now. Wind direction has had no effect on it. Simple test: Remove your old vent cap then slip on a plain plumbing T see for yourself. Thats what I did first and it worked. Put on the vac-u-jet because it looked better and is designed to prevent water leaks but the plain T worked fine.
