Hoping to take delivery next week. The dealer has to reinstall front passenger slide and then repaint exterior slide stripes...can't wait to move in! We're coming from an Allegro Bay 38TGB to this.

My ? is where do you put counter top appliances with the permanent counter shelf that's already there. I have a large Breville toaster oven that I line with tiles and bake crusty bread. I'm afraid to put tiles in the convection micro and I just love this oven.

Plus I have a good size Gaggia Superautomatic Espresso machine. With that ledge on the rear counter there isn't enough depth for either one. Has anyone removed this ledge...it doesn't seem too helpful and the drawers are too small.

I would like to secure these appliances in place so I don't have to move them when we travel. Or has anyone done any other modifications to counter or kitchen storage areas. Need ideas, please.

Also ideas as to where folks put the kitty litter box. I currently have an entry to under our bed but that won't work w/the electric bed.

Congratulations on your new QD. I have no idea why the slide needed to come out. I hope they fixed the problem correctly. A wise thing to do is to get the owners bag and spend some time reading through the manuals. Ask questions during the pre-delivery inspection. Then spend time testing everything before you take delivery. Get water and power hooked up to the unit. Test the faucets, drains, shower, toilet, refrigerator... Make certain every system works. If you can't get it to work ask why and don't let them tell you it is as it should be. If the book says one thing and they say another, believe the book. Even call the factory for clarification. Practice setting up and closing up a few times to be certain all is functioning in that area, and do it as the owners manual recommends. When you use the jacks do it from a filled air suspension. You must run the engine to do this. In this manner you are simulating more realistic usage.

We love the shelf and drawers you are talking about removing. You might consider the practicality of the appliances in question for the RV life style. And the litter box? Try under the steering wheel.

Congrats on the Tour. I have a 2012 Ellipse, the sister ship! We too have a Breville oven which we sit on the left side of the counter. Love it! One issue - all the receptacles in the kitchen are on one breaker. Run the oven and the microwave or the coffeepot and you might blow a breaker! I resolved this by installing a power strip along the left edge of the countertop. I drilled a hole in the rear side of the small shelf and plugged the power strip into the receptacle for the dishwasher located under the sink. The dishwasher is on its own breaker. It is unlikely you would run the oven and the dishwasher at the same time. The dishwasher receptacle is a single outlet so buy an adapter to plug two cords into a single receptacle. I got mine off of Amazon. We keep a Kuerig coffeemaker to the right of the sink. If we know we are traveling rough roads, we will sit it in the sink, otherwise it stays right on the counter. Never had a problem of falling off. Another issue we have is that the only receptacles for the galley are on the bottom of the upper cabinets. Wife is too short to reach them. Again, I added a power strip along the near front left edge of the counter and plugged it into the receptacle on the left upper cabinet. Walla, no need to reach any further! Secondly, I added a receptacle on the far right front of the lower cabinets, below the sink and above a heat vent in the cabinet. Lastly, I added a receptacle in the right wall in the galley side of the half bath, however, this is only accessible when the slide is out. Other changes I have made - added a drawer under the stove. Pop off the dummy cover above the dishwasher and use it as a drawer front for a new drawer. Great for knives and cooking utensils. I also added a roll out in the far right lower cabinet to make access to a lot more storage space.

Other improvements I've done to the coach are a ceiling fan in the front of the coach to match the one in the bedroom. Love it! I also removed the door to the rear bath and replaced with a sliding curtain. Sounds odd, but it sure does make a lot more room in the bath.

I think the drawer slide is really trick. Putting one in our QD as soon as we get it home.

bertman! Good way to make things work a bit better. My 40U galley slide is the same as yours. Winnebago uses the same one in both models. Your wine drawer is a great idea but for me a no go. DW has most of her cooking pans under the sink. She like to cook.

If your DW is vertically challenged for the outlets how in the world does she reach the back of the cabinets? My DW scares the jeebies out of me when she stands on the couch.

You have done many great add ins. I may consider a few of your ideas for my rig.

Thanks for all the above info. We're hoping to settle end of week. The unit we're buying at LaMesa in Tucson was from a dealer that went out of business. It already has 3000 miles on it and LaMesa told us the passenger front slide was not installed correct by Winnebago and that's why it failed. They've re-installed it and replaced the motor and now have to repaint the stripes on the side. Hope this is all true and end of that issue. I will be very thorough on the walk through including a roof inspection as our unit has no exterior ladder.
As to the kitchen outlets...not surprised and have dealt with it on our Allegro Bay by running extension wires to our washer and dryer outlets to power my toaster oven and convection burner. It's worked well except for the many times I forgot I was running the dryer and popped the breaker.
So for now...we wait patiently which is not so difficult as we're sitting in LazyDays KOA in Tucson enjoying spectacular weather. More once we're in!
