Arrived at campground, looking forward to a nice weekend in Napa, hooked up and no water flow out of any hot water faucet! Turns out there are two check valves at the back of the water heater and the one on top failed shut. A $2 part ruins a weekend. Took a mechanic at the dealership a while and a lot of contorsion to get it out and replace it with a piece of PVC. Evidently not really needed. Thought I'd pass this one on. Also found out that if the chasis battery is really dead, the "boost" switch won't help. Use a jumper cable and connect the positive on the house to the positive on the engine batteries. no need to connect the negs.
Another learning experience weekend.

Godfather,

The check is necessary, it keep hot water from back flowing to the cold water supply, and it will back flow. I can tell you that from my own peersonal experience.

I was surprised that a brass check valve was used, it does cost more then the plastic.

If you have a questions about it's purpose call Winnebago Customer Service at 800-537-1885.
