What do you carry in your basement storage?

This may sound dumb but what are some of things that you carry? After looking around all my basement storage compartments I can't imagine how you would ever run out of space. I started transferring the stuff I was carrying in my old Class C and I haven't even filled one compartment yet. So I guess I need a lesson on how you sort and lay things out.

Last compartment in the back has tools, tow strap, flares, tow bar, etc. next one is a small one has break buddy. Next has cooler, storage bin with ropes, tarps. Next has storage bin with elect wires, outside lights, etc, storage bin with outside decorations. Next has BBQ, 20lb propane, compressor. Front shelf over propane tank has wood blocks, 24" Aluminum plates for under jacks, shovel, work gloves, awning hook. Other side wet bay has dump hose and connectors,heavy rubber gloves, bucket with cleaning supplies, windshield wiper fluid, bucket with brake fluid, oil, WD40. Next small one has hoses and connectors, box of latex gloves. Long triple has flag pole, chairs, hammock, tiki torches, folding ladder, packing blankets for dogs.

All the compartments still have room in them so if I need anything special or extra depending on the location of the trip I can add it.

We are seasonal travlers so we are gone four/five months in a row.

In the basement Port side:

Tire chains
Coleman road trip grill, cover and stand and extra griddles
two packing boxes of wine/ six bottles each
a plastic box of this and that extra plates, party stuff , clothes pins,plastic ware, tent stakes, tarps etc; stuff to keep momma happy
A plastic box with to do projects for the MH, the equipment and supplies for each job
Four of five big pieces of basswood and my carving tools
An empty plastic box
My 50 amp cord
all my sewer supplies, extra oil, cleaning supplies, rags etc;

Starboard from the rear:

Our towing stuff, brake buddy and attachments
Propane bottle 20#
My tools and supplies for MH repairs small and large and puttering around stuff
Power tools/variable depending
A pull out TV
filing boxes of personal papers
Flags and poles and banners for display
Six big legal filing boxes of work related material for my wife consulting business
Dog food
Spare soda pop
Dog care tool kit with grooming supplies etc;
Fold up table for six
Window coverings and shade tarps
My ladder
four folding chairs

Without the work related stuff and the wine we would have a lot more room.

I'm doing my best to make sure we do not carry the wine home.

We are pretty full and weigh the max.

dead mice. You didn't tell your DW you have extra space to store stuff did you?

Have you looked into a womens closet lately? You can't even find an extra hanger in mine.

Consider yourself lucky! I moved out of a small house into a 38' motorhome 7 months ago and I'm still giving or throwing away things. In fact, I just got back from another trip to the Goodwill store a half-hour ago! I re-organize underneath about once a month and found the dog again day before yesterday. I'm obviously a newbie and not the best source of advice. If I were you ... never mind, you're doing fine.

Not much in our basement,yet. Haven't had a chance to start to put "stuff" in there. We had a Class C before, so the stuff from the C won't even make a dent. I am sure we will use alot of the ideas listed from above to get a more or less standard arrray of useful items to carry along. Just waiting for warmer and dryer weather.

This is making for some interesting reading, already stealing list ideas . Oh and Perry, I haven't found any mice yet but I am sure it is just a matter of time . Keep the lists coming, I am not near full yet.

corvettec3 I'm with you. We've been doing this for over a dozen years putting on over 100,000 miles between the ones we rented (before purchasing) and the one we own. In all that time we haven't accumulated enough "necessary" junk to fill all the outdoor cabinets. Not only that but everytime we hit the road (usually 1 to 3 months at a time) we go through the cabinets and remove all the junk we haven't uded in 2 or more years.

I took the liberty of copying zipo's post and highlighting in red the things we don't take with us.

Port rear, next to exhaust I installed a Mother-In- Law Suite. lol

Some great suggestion already. However I would like to say that I use the plastic milk creates and walmart type clear plastic totes when I can. Easy to see in and to move around if you need to. I built some 1x4 framing and it keeps everything locked in. Good luck to you, next year you will be posting "What can I get ride of in my basement" It will not take long to fill it. just ask your DW to help. See you down the road.

Ever since I changed a light bulb and caused a fire in my office back when I was a working man - I have been banned by DW from touching tools. So I have lots of space in all my bins, very easy to find my stuff.

My MH came ready to camp, just add gas, food and water. Let me see if I can remember what the dealer left below.
A lot of it was never used.

* Never used

* 16' patio mat
* Awning tie-down strap kit with ground anchors and tension springs
* Road side triangle kit
Gas grill
* Roll up table
Green folding table
* 6' White folding table
* Folding metal grill table
* 10' dump hose
various dump adapters
garden hose
* Front shade screen for awning
Quick connect fittings
* Horse shoes and stakes
* Cross lug wrench
Screw-in stakes
2 Yellow wheel chocks
30' extension cord
30 and 50 amp adapters
... and probably some things I'm forgetting about.

Upstairs

Fleece blanket, some throw rugs and pillows, Indian blanket and Cobra Weather CB.

Stuff I transferred from my 5er.

Compressor
Spare rail parts
Nut and bolt bin
Q-grill
Jumper cables
Tow strap
Spare belts
Grease and gun
Oil and funnel
Flares
Rags
Tools
10x50 binocs
Metal detector
Voltmeter
Wire, connectors, cutter and crimper

What I don't use is coming out.

When home and can't find something, best place to look is in the motorhome, I probably carried it with us on the last trip.

I have so much more storage in the MH than the 5er that I don't remember where I put some stuff. I have to take inventory each trip.

Intrigued by this excellent question... I ventured out the the MH and forced open the rearmost large storage compartment which had been stuck for lo these years...
I found Jimmy Hoffa.

Otherwise, I'm pretty much like most who carry tools and other necessary items for survival... I even have a shovel to bury you-know-who.
