What is a "gold ball rock" ?

And yes, windshields are expensive

I never heard the other side will break story. I've had driver and passenger side break but it was 12 years between them.

My driver's side was replaced two years ago...about $1,800 here in California.

I just had both sides replaced in my Alpine a few weeks ago after getting a HUGE rock into the windshield in March........not sure how huge it actually was, but when it was coming straight at me it sure looked BIG

In any case the cost to replace both (glue in) was $3600...........thank goodness I have zero deductible here in Arizona!!

Well shoot, another get rich quick idea down the drain. I was just frantically packing my RV to head to Canada. I mean if chunks of gold were hitting windshields I wanted to get up there and pick up a few and bring them back with me. Oh well

Just as well, from here to Whitecourt, Alberta is over 2,136 miles (1989 km) and a few toll roads to boot!

I have to wonder how much of it is an insurance scam on the part of the glass installers. I recall about 25 years ago having a windshield replaced on my car, this was before insurance glass coverage was legally mandated in my state. I called the local auto glass place and asked the cost of replacing the front windshield on my car and was told it would be $155 self pay or $750 for insurance claim.

To the OP, what model motorhome? Your avatar is of a class C which I have never seen with a two piece windshield.

Had the driver's side replaced on our 03 Itasca Sunova almost 3 years ago for a bit over a $1000. High comp deductible at that time so I paid out of pocket. Does indeed sound like the glass company you're using is making a killing, even if that's a Canadian dollar amount..

We had both sides replaced in Tucson in Dec. $4079. Was told if out of pocket would be about $3300.
