Winnebago brave 2002 steps issue

Hi,
we have the above RV and the steps are playing up and are very intermittent as to whether they do or not.
Someone looked at it today and said it needs a new control unit Part number;
909506000.
We have the Kwikee steps, we think it is series 22, 32 0r 40

anyone know what replaces Kwikees original part please?

The steps on our old MH had become very intermittent.
Sometimes they worked and sometimes they didn't.
They would stay in whichever position they were in.
Once or twice I just gave them a swift kick out of frustration and they went back up.
I replaced the motor that drives them and had no more problems.
The parts were available from Amazon and they were pretty cheap.
The replacement was not difficult.

Steps

Our 04 Adventurer is currently having problems with the steps. Lippert has a repair kit but it is best to call them. If you just use their website you may not find the kits for older units.

First you must determine your model# Kwikee steps. The Kwikee Products Service Training Manual is used for that by comparing step measurements and configuration.
It also has an excellent troubleshooting section.
Before spending money, make sure both ground wires are clean, tight, and have little resistance. Kwikee steps are always "hot", the controller switches the ground to control motor direction.

Had similar issue this summer. Steps would extend and retract randomly ( Even while driving ). Thought it was the controller.
Turned out, it was the magnetic door switch, or more precisely the wires for it. They were stretched too tightly and connection was coming apart. Pulled some slack and re-did the connectors. Problem solved.
Good luck with yours.

door wiring

I had the same issue, it turned out to be the wiring in the door channel for the switch.
It had a bad wire connector inside the door channel (why someone would put a connection there is beyond me).

To check remove door switch and attach a pull wire to the switch wiring, then pull it out the bottom of the door frame, the pull wire will make it a lot easier to pull back in
