Welcome to iRV2 & the Winnebago Owners Club. For your info we have a Winnebago Chat every Tuesday night at 9 PM EDT and you are always welcome to join in if you wish. It is an excellent way to ask questions to seasoned Winnebago Owners.

I have a 2015 36y I bought used, thought I’d give you a heads up on a couple of things that bit me. One, drain your water heater right away, no telling how long it’s been and it’s pricey when the tank gets pinholes. It should be drained once a year or so. Two, tighten all the screws on the transfer switch connections at least once a year, they work loose and again, pricey to replace the switch, that’s if you’re lucky like I was and there’s no fire.
Other than that, other repairs have been easy stuff, so relax and enjoy the ride, been happy with mine, had it a little over a year, full timing.

What is the transfer switch you refer to? I may not know the lingo yet

Best wishes!

It is the control that switches between shore power and on board generator power, depending on which is providing power to your coach. On mine it was a metal box mounted to the wall inside the same compartment that has your water and shore power connections, on the right. If you follow the cable you plug into shore with, it goes to that box, as do the wires from your generator.

Warning

Whatever you do, don’t reach inside that box unless shore is unplugged and the generator is off! Otherwise you’ll end up looking like my switch did, burnt.
