Peggy and I are making a lifestyle adjustment. We've been rving since 1980, fulltime for the last 10 years but not really traveling full time. We found ourselves parked six months of the year here in central Florida and for most of those 10 years we'd also be stationary on our beautiful lot on Lake Greenwood South Carolina for months at a time. Yes, we took some wonderful long trips west, on one occasion all the way to the coast. Last year we had PLANNED a six month trip to the Pacific northwest but, well you all know what happened. Bottom line, we've purchased a traditional "stick & brick" in a beautiful 55+ community not far from Disney and decided we didn't need to own and maintain our 45' coach, but we still prefer RV travel when exploring the world.

We love and trust the dealer we bought the Newmar from, Midway RV Center, Grand Rapids MI, and they've got a 2011 Winnebago Journy 34y, garage kept since new, only 24k miles. I really preferred to stay diesel, it eliminates refueling anxiety for me. Losing 10' in length means we also sacrifice some luxury features, like stacked washer/dryer, second bathroom, but we'll gain access to many sites, especially in public parks, inaccessible to the mobile mansion. We expect to make the swap later this month.

This will be our 10th RV. Our first was a very rough 1969 16' Shasta, 11 years old when we bought it. It fit the budget at the time and I spent countless hours cleaning and repairing. I even had Peggy show me how to use her sowing machine so I could make new drapes. A year later we sold it at a profit and bought our first new rig, all of 18', but it had a bathroom! The 'bago may be our last rig so we've come full circle, back to a used rig, both to fit our budget and our envisioned lifestyle moving forward.

By the way, we've already sold our South Carolina lot, still sitting on our Florida lot, not far from the house, for storage if nothing else. We very well may change that in the future. I've found secure covered storage, with electric, for about the same monthly cost as our lot HOA fees. I'm on a waiting list.

See you on the road!Click image for larger version

Jay;

Welcome to the Winnebago family. That looks like a well maintained coach. I know several friends who have or have had Journeys and they were very happy with them. I am sure it will take some time to adjust to the loss of 10' but you will not be living in it full time.

Bev and I are looking forward to seeing you and Peggy in July when you visit Wisconsin again.

Don
