You will not get heat out of the floor vents until the propane heater is turned on or the heat pump can not keep up to the cold temps. I believe that the propane will kick on if there is a 5deg. difference.

Set the zone to 'gas' to switch over to propane heat.

Handdyman,
Your Vectra is very close sister ship to our Itasca Horizon. Ours is an '04 36GD with the CAT C-7 330HP. Now, as has been stated, you have TWO different heating systems and ONE air conditioning system. Your basement A/C system provides either HEAT or A/C. But, the FURNACE which is ONLY propane, will only provide heat and, it only provides that heat, through the FLOOR VENTS. But, the good part about the gas furnace is, it also provides heat to the COMPARTMENTS to keep water tanks and lines from freezing. Your basement A/C and heat pump can't do that.

But, when the furnace is in operation, you should receive heat from ALL the floor registers, not just a few. And, as has been stated, if things (namely the thermostat) are working correctly, if you ask for heat higher than around 4 degrees higher than the present ambient temperature, and your thermostat is set on ELECTRIC heat, BOTH the basement A/C heat pump AND the gas propane furnace will come on and achieve your asked for temp. Once that has been met, and you leave the option switch to ELECTRIC, from that point on, when the temp drops below the set point, ONLY your basement A/C heatpump will activate.

Contrary, if you have your switch on the T-stat set to GAS heat, and ask for ANY amount of degrees above the ambient temp, ONLY the gas furnace will come on and achieve your asked for temp. Hope this helps some.
Scott

It should also be noted that the 40' Vectra should actually have TWO propane furnaces (whereas our 36' coaches only have one). I'm pretty sure there are separate thermostats for the two furnaces.

The Operator Manual for the coach should describe the operation of the heating and A/C system. (I don't know the year of the OP's coach, so the above link is to all of the Operator Manuals.)

Oh man,
Chris ya got me again! I've not familiarized myself with the larger Winnes and Itascas. Just got to know the shorter versions at least somewhat well.
