2017 Winnebago Grand Tour Lippert Bed Riser Failure

The bed riser system failed. I cannot raise the bed and retract the slide with the bed extended. Does anyone know of a manual way to raise the bed? I'm stuck and cannot move the coach! Thank you

The same happened to us in our 2014 Adventurer. Traveling in Oklahoma. Called a mobile repair tech. He disengaged the motor ( looks like same motor as Lippert Schwintek slide outs). Raise the bed at bottom. Prop up or have someone hold up the bed to access mechanism. Our motor was at the right side of bed toward rear of MotorHome. The motor pulls away from mechanism. Then lift up on bed at bottom and push the bed in manually. Takes some force. May need a practice run or two. We manually raised it for the better part of a six week tour. Got easier. Dealer had to reinstall the bed-tilt mechanism. If this isn't clear let me know and I'll try to do better. The repairs took weeks as usual.

There's a interlock switch when the bed is up that allows the slide to go in. But the bed back will still have up. On the road we've left it up and 1 person can sleep on the bottom, the other on the couch.

We lost ours for two different reasons on our 2016 Journey. Once the motor and once the control module. Yes, there is a way to hot wire the bed lift, but you will have to be careful not to raise it or lower it further than needed or you will strip the gears on the lift.

Call Lippert tech support. They will step you through the trouble shooting. It is a matter of reading the LED codes on the control module and using a multi meter. If it is the module you can hot wire it in an emergency. Replacing the module is a ten minute plug and play except for programming it which in a PITA. Again, Lippert we send you the instructions.

If you have lost the motor, be prepared to spend several hours replacing it. As they say, "some disassembly required."

Good luck! Contact me if you would like any more information.
