Nevada WIT State Rally

SILVER STATE TRAVELERS STATE RALLY
OCT. 12, 13, 14, 2017
**PLEASE NOTE: Registrations must be received by OCTOBER 1, 2017**
Nevada’s three-day State Rally will be held at the Boulder Creek RV Resort in Lone Pine, Calif. All WIT members are invited. The resort is located at 2550 so. Hwy 395 in Lone Pine, Calif, Home .
40 sites have been reserved.
The theme of the rally is "The Western American Experience"
The concept for the 2017 Rally will be learning during the day and fun and social events in the evening. We have two special tours available.
We have a very special tour of the Lone Pine Film Museum and film locations in the famous Alabama Hills. (Space is Limited)
This tour will be conducted by Chris Langley who is the film historian at the Beverly and Jim Rogers Lone Pine Film History Museum in Lone Pine. He has been involved with the museum since its inception and is very familiar with the Alabama Hills where many western movies and others have been filmed. He is the Inyo County Film Commissioner, and has served as the president of the Inyo County School Board.
We also have a tour of Manzanar, a National Historic Site. The camp served as one of ten Japanese internment camps in the early 1940’s. The site is now operated by the National Park Service. It will be a museum tour and film, followed by a self-guided out-door car tour of the internment camp.
A new element of the Rally will be an owners’ forum on maintenance, repair and how to use your Winnebago unit’s appliances, and other features your unit offers. A seminar will be on RV web sites which can help you read, watch videos and search for all things regarding your RV.
Sat. night entertainment will feature Larry Maurice
Larry has spent the last thirty-five years as a Cowboy, horse wrangler and packer in the Eastern Sierra and the high deserts of Nevada. You’re likely to find him leading a string of mules into the back country, on a horse drive in the Owens Valley of California, or working with Longhorn cattle in Virginia City, Nevada. Larry juggles his need to be on horseback with his busy entertainment schedule. A sought after entertainer, not only for his Cowboy Poetry that speaks from the heart of the day to day Cowboy, but also for his ability to breathe life into the history of the American West.
He is an exceptional after-dinner speaker and spends a great deal of time in schools around the country talking to children about the role the Cowboy has played and continues to play in the development of the west. Through poetry, song and stories, Larry is able to transport his audience back in time, allowing them to experience the cattle drives, characters and critters of the old west. Larry has been honored with the "Lifetime Achievement in Cowboy Poetry Award" from the prestigious National Cowboy Symposium in Lubbock, Texas. In July of 2000, Larry received the Academy of Western Artists coveted "Will Rogers Cowboy Award" for Cowboy Poet of the Year.
Larry has been a "Lone Pine" regular since the festival's beginning in 1989 providing guidance, support and friendship throughout the years.
