Tow Haul?

Is putting your rig in Tow Haul the same as an older rig with Overdrive and dropping out of overdrive?

No. That causes the computer to use a different program for shiftion the tyranny. Works for level ground and up and down hill. Should be a description of operation in the owners Manuel.

Very different. The whole shift pattern is different in the TOW mode. Going up the tranny shifts later. Coming down simply touching the brakes shifts the tranny down a gear. With subtle inputs on the throttle the driver can almost make it behave like manual shift making it downshift earlier when approaching a hill.

Tow Haul when On also causes the transmission to down shift if you depress the brake pedal for 1 second. Depressing accelerator will cause the ECM to shift back to the "normal" gear.
