Turn off generator, unplug shore power and disconnect battery ground cables?

Our inverter has an on/off switch. But I'd do as the above post suggests -- unplug external power and disconnect the batteries anyway. That's the safest most fool-proof way.

The auto transfer switch is wired in before the inverter.

The inverter output goes away from the auto switch. There is no current at it, if the generator and shore cord are not powered.

Hi twinboat,
Help me understand your post #5. The inverter is sourced from the coach batteries. It takes 12V DC and makes 120V AC for those appliances wired to it. Doing away with shore and generator power will only eliminate the by pass path through the inverter. There remains 120V AC output from the inverter (if still on) via the batteries. Do you agree?

Yes, but not to the Automatic Transfer Switch. That is before the inverter pass thru switch, which is just another ATS.

When the inverter sees no incoming power it transfers off the shore/generator line to the inverter made power and only supplies the inverter feed breakers.

There is no back feed to the ATS.
