Hi waltmack,
The slide will not move out with the top and bottom equal distance. However, once the slide contacts the coach wall everything should come in contact with the wall before the slide stops.
The slide stops when the amperage on the motor increases past the factory set point. The amperage rises when the motor starts to push hard against the wall of the coach. There are a couple of reasons this might not be happening:
1. The stop rod is broken or bent. On your coach I have forgotten if the rod is accessed from inside or from underneath the coach. The stop rod is just like it sounds. It is a long steel rod threaded on both ends with bolts that can be adjusted.
2. The control card is not sending/receiving the correct amperage from the motor. The easiest way to test this is find one of the other slide control card and swap them. See if anything changes. There is an adjustable "pot" on the control card that allows the stopping set point to be adjusted. If you make an adjustment to the pit, make it in 1/8 turn increments.
