04 DutchStar Generator won’t slide out.

I have been unable to coax the generator latches to release. I can feel the release cable move the arm, and associated link to the 2nd latch, but there is no release.

I cannot get a visual due to tight quarters of the location.

Has anyone else dealt with this situation and if so, what was the solution?

It has been sitting in Texas SW of Houston so the wife can visit the kids and grandkids regularly for 18 months. I don’t think I have needed to pull it out in this whole time.

Check the Newmar Owners forum.
Same situation with a stubborn latch for the generator slide.
Once you get underneath and get it released manually, the fix is to move the "Z" hook up to the top hole for more mechanical leverage and of course lube the whole thing well.

Can you push on it to releave some of the pressure off the latch while someone else else pulls the release? I have seen some that did that because there was extra pressure on it because of the way the RV was parked. As stated, make sure you lube the latch regularly even if you're not using it that often.

We tried that.

The release cable moves full distance, but doesn’t release.

Can’t visually see the latches.

Spraying with WD40.

Heading back to AZ tomorrow. Will try again in January when I return.

Jk

I have just been through a repair that involved lubrication of the cables and the latches. Everything works great now but I still have to press on the front of the motorhome with my hip as I pull the trolly release to get the generator out. I also do the same sort of thing to get the counter extension with the two drawers to come out ijn the kitchen. You have to push the button and at the same time push the cabinet in and then release. If that doesn’t work, you aren’t holding your mouth right.
