'05 DSDP Dash Air, Cat C-7, Spartan

I don't have any dash air. Searched a bit and have a question did not find answered. The compressor is not engaging. I replaced the fuse, tried to clean all the connections at the compressor. I went to auto store to get recharge stuff and the guy said that if the compressor was not engaging, you could not recharge it, but I also understand that if the pressure is below a certain point, the compressor will not engage.

Did not want to spend the bucks on the recharge kit if that is true, but some of the responses here seemed to indicate that you could hook up the kit and then the pressure would be there to engage the compressor.

I know there is a lot of knowledge out there. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Dan

If you can find the pressure switch, you can short across it to let the compressor clutch engage and then start charging.

Do you know what the pressure switch looks like and where it might be located?

Thanks

Should look something like this on either one of the lines or the dryer:
