'07 Essex K2 Chassis - Cruise & Tilt Not Working

While driving today I had the cruise control and tilt wheel stop working. Strange but the tilt would work in one direction - towards me, but will not tilt away. Cruise was working fine, then I noticed after a stop that the Resume button did not work and I had to reset the speed once again. After 2 times doing that, it stopped working altogether. The pedal in/out switch and wheel telescoping in/out also not working. Looks like I've lost all of the switch functions on the not-so-smart wheel now....



I don't have much in the way of wiring diagrams onboard. I did check all fuses in the front driver compartment and did not find any bad ones.


Hoping that someone here has dealt with this problem in the past and can point me in the right direction.

found the wiring diagram.... now to see what I can figure out.

When our cruise control stopped working on our 04 Essex the problem was a loss connection at the smart wheel control box in the outside cabinet below the drivers seat. The box is black and was located on the left bottom corner. Needed to adjust the connector to fit tighter.

So in reading through the troubleshooting guide I decided to make sure that the control board had 12v going to it. The 3A main panel fuse supplying the smart wheel was good, but simply pulling the fuse and reinserting it was all it took.


Don't know if removing power causes a reset, or if I just had dirty fuse connections. Based upon the way it failed (gradually lost different functions) I think it just did a reboot and is now fine.


Either way I'll take it!
