Replaced ours recently for the same reason, nothing but trouble with it.
We replaced ours with a Splendide. Depends on what you mean by difficult. It wasn't hard to figure out, but those front load washers are HEAVY!
With help from a couple of neighbors we got the old one out and the new one in. Our dryer is stacked directly on top of the washer (as another thread reveals, some floorplans have a separate shelf for the dryer). We set the washer down in the living room so we could place the dryer on top, get it lined up and drill into the washer to be able to reinstall the plate that ties the two pieces together (ended up using a couple of washers to keep the plate "plumb"). This would be impossible to do once back in the cabinet.
Once this was done the two units were separated again so we could get them back into the closet and hooked up. The "clamps" that supposedly kept the original washer from moving around would not fit over the feet on the Splendide. So far nothing has moved after dozens of loads of laundry or hundreds of miles over the road.
The stabilizing bar that runs across the top of the dryer did end up getting lowered about 1/2".
