2000 DSDP Generator uncommanded start

I have a mystery. 2000 Dutch Star DP. Onan 7500 genset. My wife (DW) went to get the mail and asked me why the coach was running. News to me so went out and the generator was running! As far as I know there is no autostart feature. It is plugged in on 15 amp shore power. The power blipped today with all the high winds and rain but,.... I'm stumped. Owned
for a year and it's never done that. Any ideas?

2000 DSDP Generator uncommanded start

This seems to happen occasionally. Was it raining lately?
Ours ran 18 hours after self starting once in 2015. There is a connector next to generator on passenger side that I opened and lubed with dielectric grease. Been good since.
Shortly after it happened to us was talking to a Monaco owner who had it happen at an un-attended storage lot, ran till it was out of fuel.
BTW I do not have AGS nor did the Monaco owner.

Tom,..... seems like I’ve heard of this on the forum maybe 3-4 times in the 8 yrs since we started fulltiming. Actually happened to us as well, about 6-7 yrs ago. Never got an explanation, never happened again.

Hi - Any cats in the neighborhood? Jumping up on the genset and a paw in the wrong place can do it. Also moisture in the connection, as SPK64 mentioned, is a possibility.

Thanks for the input. Guess it was a random event. Now I'll have a story to tell when it happens to someone else in a few years!

We added a spacer under the gent start sw. to eliminate the “critters” starting. No problems since then.
