2000 Dutch Star with a drain leak in the kitchen slide

Iím 400 miles from home and discovered that I have a leak in sink drain line. Iíve added two pics that show a brass object that appears to have female threads on each end thatís in the drain line. What is it? Can it be eliminated. Iím not sure how to replace this, HELP.

That's the swivel connection for your kitchen drain. pivot point for when the slide goes in or out. ours leaked as well, took it apart and realized it was installed backwards
