2000 Newmar Mountain aire alternator putting out 16.2 volts - regulator?

I'm on a road trip in my Newmar and I noticed a high voltage fault from my freedom interface panel While driving the coach. When I 1st start the engine, voltage is normal at the batteries within a couple minutes it goes to just over 16 V at the batteries. Seems like A voltage regulator problem? My question is is the voltage regulator something I can replace while on this road trip? If so, where is it? Is it external of the alternator? Thanks for any help as I tried to figure out what can be done while I'm on this road trip. ISC 8.3 Cummins

The voltage regulator is bolted to the back of the alternator.

Best bet is disable the alternator by removing the large wire on it, or back at the isolator, and running the generator for battery charging.

16 volts will grossly overcharge your batteries and ruin them.

Hi - Follow twinboats advice as that high voltage will harm things and will overheat your alternator causing it to fail. However have the batteries checked as a shorted cell could cause the regulator to go full blast. Don't throw parts at it, get to the cause of the issue.
