Have you been to the motor in the basement , to check for power when someone operates the switch. Can you get to the controller to check for power and ground when someone is operating the switch.
Have you tried a manual opening ( or any movement of the slide ) to make sure the mechanism isn't jammed and tripping the controller load limit switch immediately?

EDIT: If you go into the 5th post , here in the Newmar owners forum , Title. " Original Quick tips and easy mods 1 & 2", and scroll down to slides info, there are a bunch of downloads available that will tell you how to got through your slide system to find your problem.

Check the fluorescent ceiling lights in the bedroom and bath. If on, turn off; and vice versa.

ok folks the source was a terminal push-on from the switch had worked loose enough to break contact and thus rendered slide inoperative. Thanks for your hints.......
