When I press the switch to open or close the front slide on our motor home a small light would come on and then the lady came on saying the lock arms must be released, etc.and there would be a 5 second delay.

That no longer happens. Now when I press the switch the light does not light indicating a response to my action .... nor does the lady speak anymore! What does happen when I press the switch is, I can barely hear a static which lasts about as long as the announcement did in the past. Then the slide will activate and come in.

Any clues as to what I need to do? Or what the problem might be?

If I recall seeing this correctly on my DSDP, there is a voice module in Thorpe basement near the rear. I am thinking there is one for the front slides and one for the rear.

Does this happen for all of you slides?

This is interesting, Mine, when the rocker switch is pushed, the slide starts to move and she starts her message both at the same time? I always thought that there should be a delay also? With both happening at the same time, all's one can do is hit the rocker switch again to stop the slide, or make sure everything is ready to go before pushing the rocker switch to open the slide....... A slight delay would be nice

Welcome to the forum and irv2, Bob.
Here is a Brochure and Owners Guide for you.

Down in my signature there are links that will relate to your Newmar.

Here is one link in QT's 1 & 2 that has to do with your slides.
In this old slide spec page 5 shows the slide control switch and what maybe going wrong with it.
You should fined your slide control and remove the wire plugs and spray some contact spray to clean them, corrosion can develop just standing around. Picture of slide control kitchen cabinet:

In most forums there are stickies that have valued information and should not be overlooked.
Enjoy the forums and safe travels.

No, only the front slide. The rear slide just opens when the rocker switch is touched.

Same with my '02. I get the announcement with the LR slide, but the kitchen and bedroom are direct action with no sound.

No one has mentioned about the delay in the slide opening that the OP asked about, does your have a delay after pushing the switch?

Hi JFXG,
The lady providing the speech and delay is only for the main living area slide on the driver's side. All other slides will move immediately when the switch is depressed,

On my 2005 DSDP I have the delay and the lady speaking on each of the four slides.

Yes, on the LR slide only, I get the announcement concurrent with the stated delay.

So mine is behaving itself. That's good to know!

Hi Sky_Boss & Sky_Boss,
Your post is a first for me. I've been in many, many Newmar coaches. I have never been in a coach where the speech and delay were more than I posted. This is very interesting. I'm wondering if your coaches received the speech/delay controller for each slide? Y'all have any ideas.

Is the "delay" adjustable? My slide starts to move at the same time the rocker switch is pushed and she also starts to talk as soon as the switch is pushed and the slide starts to move. Maybe my vintage did not have a delay? My slide is already out a foot or more before she quits talking.......
