2004 DSDP Chassis Cutoff Switch

Guys:

Precisely, what does this switch in the engine compartment turn off, and what still is a parasitic drain on your chassis batteries?

In storage, without power, would this switch being used extend the length of time that your batteries will still be able to start the ISL?

I also understand that coach cutoff is to be used, but am more concerned with chassis batteries.

Thanks in advance,

John

The cut off switch in the engine compartment, turns off all chassis power to the engine from your chassis batteries. Turn it off when working on your chassis batteries, electrical components on your engine or welding on the frame. When welding on your frame I would also disconnect your chassis & house batteries by taking off the negative feeds- this is because many electrical grounds are on the frame.

You don't need to shut off the engine cut off for storage, buy I always shut off the coach disconnect while in storage unless you're connected to shore power.

Happy Trails

There isn't much parasitic drain on your chassis batteries, so you could leave it on. However, I turn it off all the time when it's stored. I feel like if someone were to try to steal my MH it would be one more roadblock for them in trying to get it started. My switch is in a not so obvious place so it's hard to see unless you know it's there.

The small solar panel on roof is for the parasitic loads drawn off your chassis batteries.
Would still work with switch operated.
