2004 Dutch Star - AC Temp Sensor Location

I have an issue with my 2004 Newmar Dutchstar. I live in Arizona. When the sun starts to beat on the exterior of the unit, the AC comes on and doesn't shut off until the temperature drops well below the set point. It doesn't do this on cloudy days. I believe the sensor is somewhere on an exterior wall, and picking up heat transfer from the outside. I've read here where putting spacers behind the sensor helps this situation. My problem is that I cannot find the sensor for the front of the unit, and I've looked hard. I even removed pictures from the wall to make sure they were not covering a sensor. I found the rear sensor without much issue. If anyone has any idea where Newmar mounted the front sensor in 2004 I would appreciate it. Thanks!

In my vintage DS, the zone one sensor is in the thermostat, zone two on the bedroom wall .

What thermostat is your coach equipped with , it probably has the sensor too .

Do you have the owners manual for the thermostat ?

I have a 2005 Mountain Aire. The front temperature sensor in my coach was located under the edge of the furthest back kitchen cabinet.

Skip426, it appears that you are correct. I have a Dometic Comfort Controll II. Its not the original thermostat, but I did some checking and it does have a temp sensor on the control board. The funny thing is, I installed the thermostat along with the two rooftop units myself. I always assumed there were remote sensors for both. The rear unit was always the main problem. It would cool beyond the set point when it got hot out. Sometimes by 10 degrees. I found the bedroom thermostat mounted on the bedroom wall about 2 inches away from the exterior wall. I was able to drill a new hole and fish the wire away from the exterior wall by over 12". Its made a world of difference. Thanks for your help! I've been looking for the front sensor off and on for years.

Davide33, I hope you're able to isolate the thermostat from some of the heat.
Seems , thermostat placement is an ongoing issue in our vintage coaches.

Although my old 4 button is central to the living area on the end of a kitchen cabinet 2'6" from an out side wall , the heat from the kitchen furnace duct gets to it and the furnace shuts down long before the bed room is comfortable, and it's proximity to the ceiling A/C ducts brings other issues into play .
