2004 Essex

Who can help we are looking at a 04 Essex on a freightliner chassis and 505 hp Cat. Is there anything I should be watching out for, it has 60,000 miles on it and runs strong

I did not know that the 04 Essex was available with a freightliner chassis and 505 hp Cat. I thought the only available chassis/engine combination was Spartan K2 and the Cummins ISM 500hp.

Check out Newmar's 04 Essex brochure
http://www.newmarcorp.com/wp-content...dpbrochure.pdf.
Not to say it doesn't exist but it doesn't mention the freightliner chassis as an option. What chassis is on the Essex you are looking at?

Yep, I don't see any options for the chassis or engine. Standard is the Spartan K-2 with 500 HP ISM.

Was at Newmar during the summer and a person had a 2015 Essex on a FL chassis but had a DD12 and tag axle steering which didn't come out to 2016 model year. There are some special units that do come down the line at Newmar. Most Newmar owners would prefer a Cummins 500 ISM and a Spartan but a Cat and FL is OK for many.
Tom 04 Essex on Spartan with a 500 ISM.

I did check the brochure and you are correct but that doesn't change the coach so I emailed Newmar with the serial number and waiting for an answer from them

Newmar called me this morning it definitely is what it is, rep was confused to begin with and after calling freightliner they said it probably became an option after the brochures were printed
