I have a 2005 Mountain Aire. It has been a good coach.

Newmar tended to use the Essex as the place to introduce new technology, so you should make sure it all works. 18 year old electronics that fail can be difficult to repair.

We purchased in 2004 a Essex which we had for 14 years and had almost 150K iles. Outstanding coach with a great engine 500 HP ISM and trans with Allision 4K. 04 was the year before Newmar's E-Plex came out which was a problem for most 05 and up till Silver Leaf in 2012. One area that is a weakness in overloaded front axle. 04 came with 14.6 K which was overloaded with full of fuel by 1500 pounds. What we did was put the 315 front tire on the front with 9 inch rim which tire was brought us to 17K load which is what the coach did way in the front. Have a 18 London Aire again another nice coach but that 04 Essex went from Alaska and all the others except Hawaii.
