2005 Essex driver window motor replacement

My window was always slow. Suddenly stopped working last month. I have tested power to the motor. Good. Switch inverts polarity properly. Removed the motor and identified as Siemens 12717R. I have been unable to find a compatible replacement motor. Called Newmar, they only sell the entire window lift kit. The motor on that kit is 12762R. I was told it is Bosch. No matches there either. I would like to switch out the motor only due to cost and amount of work involved.

Pls help if you have experience with this issue.

Thanks.

Take the unit to an auto parts store (NAPA) and have them see if they can match it up. You might even find a 'heavy duty' unit.

Help on Newmar known window water problem. Do you have more information. My 2005 Dutch Star has a driver's window motor that fails to start after rain. Probably water from leaking in at bottom of window. After many tries it will finally start operating as normal, until the next rain. How hard is access to motor? Anybody have suggestion?

Ron, start by removing the plastic interior cover. Once that's out you will see pretty much everything. I suspect the heavy plastic covering that is supposed to keep the motor dry has come loose. If that's what the problem is this should be a pretty easy fix.

I also had a leak in the drivers window but I also had a leak in the plastic basin that is supposed to catch the water and drain it out thru the floor. So I had to remove the entire window mechanism. In order to remove the window mechanism, if memory serves me well, you have to remove all the exterior fasteners along with the interior ones on the motor frame. It looks like a scary job, but if you have time and a garage/barn to keep things dry, it's not too bad of a job.

I will try to find any photos I may have taken. Good luck.

Motor Replacement

I have a 2006 Essex that needs a power window motor also, did you ever source one from other than Newmar?

Thank you.

If you can't find another motor how about giving a place similar to this one a call?
