2005 Mountain Aire 3781

I am looking at the possible purchase of the above motorhome. It is in excellent shape with 38000 miles on a w24 chassis. Is there anything to look
out for on this model? Im not real familiar with the newmar brand but have heard lots of good things. What is a feasible price for this model? Thanks for any input.

IMO, the Newmar MACA is the finest gasser MH ever built. High quality all the way. The W-24 is arguably the best chassis Workhorse built, and has proven to be almost trouble free. The W-24 was NOT subject to the infamous Bosch Brake Recall you may hear about because it has 4 piston calipers made by Arvin -Meritor. It is "possible" that a 2005 model may have the J72 AAPB system, which "may" be a potential source of problem, but I would not let that stop me from buying the coach if the price was right and, more importantly, my wife LIKED the floor plan and fabrics.

Thanks for the reply edgray. How would I know if it has the j72 feature for the brakes?

If the chassis has the J72 AAPB there should be a "yellow knob" switch somewhere near the driver position to release the brake. It looks very similar to the air brake release on most Diesel pushers.

I have fulltimed in my Mountain Aire W25.5 gasser for over 3 years. It is a comfortable rig for living and traveling. We are pleased with our decision to own a Mountain Aire. Ours provides good quality/amenities considering the moderate purchase/maintenance costs.

Welcome to the forum.
Here is a Brochure and Owners Guide for you.
Below in my signature are links to many others for the Newmar.
Your wife will like the full wardrobe closets and not just shirt closets.
Everyone with a lower W wanted the W-24 or W-25.5 but ran out of time before they folded.
Here is info for Workhouse items and a good supply for parts on this link.
You can look on dealer sites for pricing of coach and compare or NADA for starting points.
Good luck in your quest.
