2005 Newmar Kountry Star 3910 Newbie

Hello all,
Can anyone tell me if I am understanding something correctly? It is my understanding that if while dry camping and the heat pumps are set to on by the thermostat, and the generator is off, when the temps get cold enough to need heat the generator will start and then the heat pumps as well?

Only if someone has installed an Auto Generator Start system. When on shore power or with the generator running if the ambient temp. gets too low the furnace will override the heat pump setting. Also be aware that the heat pumps will not run on just the inverter.I have owned My 2005 3910 since new,and I am 99% sure auto gen start was not a factory offered option.

Since this coach is new to me and I am not familiar with all the intricacies of the systems is there someway to know how this one was outfitted or were all the 3910's built the same?

Call Newmar customer service and ask them. Also on Newman's web site search for an archive and download a copy of the brochure for your RV. If you are unsure of what you are looking for or at you might benefit from a visit to a Newmar dealer for explanations.

Any Newmar dealer can get build sheet for you. You can probably get one by calling Newmar also. Build sheet is really handy to have.

They had many options available, my previous 05 KSDP had almost all options, Newmar seems to have built a bunch of 2005 Kountry Stars.

If anyone finds a 05 KSDP with gen slideout it was our previous MH. I installed the slideout for the gen.

Think you are safe to assume you do not have auto start. The small panel where you turn on the inverter, set for 30 or 50, amps, etc may have a screen that says auto start. But you do not have the feature. The heating and cooling all operates by manually operating/setting the switches on the thermostat. The only exception is; if set to heat pump and it cannot maintain that temperature and the difference between the set temp and actual inside temperature exceeds about 4 or 5 degrees, the system will automatically switch over to furnace.

If your KSDP has a remote (ME RC50) for the inverter. Press AGS button, Press SELECT knob. If you do not have an AGS, it will say NO COMMM. If it has an AGS it will say OFF, ENABLED, TEST, ENABLED w QT.

Welcome remcd44!

The link below should take you to the 05' Kountry Star brochure.
Hopefully your coach came with the big "brief case" that has manuals for appliances, electrical, awnings etc. If there should be a manual for the inverter/charger that explains how use/to set the remote charging (mine is a RC7) panel located above and forward of the passenger seat in the cabinet closest to the entry door.

Lots of knowledgeable people on this site. Never be bashful of asking questions.

Best of luck and safe travels!

Cheers

Mine had no AGS. I have a small 600w inverter in the bay behind the rear passenger side wheels. Easiest to just use the furnace setting.
