2005 Spartan Dutch Star water pump
Went on the first trip with the new to us rig, a 2005 Dutch Star on a Spartan Chassis. It drove well, and had a great time. Had one thing I could not figure out. From what I can see, there are three water pump switches, one in the outside fill, dump basement, one in the bathroom and one on the control panel next to the indicater light. On the panel the green light, I assume indicating the pump is on never goes out, no matter which switch you turn off or on. When I went to fill the tank while on site, the pump would not turn off. If I shut down the fill valve so the system was pressurized through the outside hose, it turned off on it's own.
I assume there is a problem with the switch on the panel but thought I would ask if anyone had this before.
Thanks for your help.

On my 2006 DSDP with Spartan the Green light only illuminates when one of the 3 switches is on. Never have used the water pump when filling the tank. Water pressure from the faucet is adequate.

On our 2000 DSDP we also had three switches. You had to figure out which was on and turn it off or the pump would run when pressure is called for.
On our 2002 DSDP we ordered the latching switch setup like the MADP's came with so every switch will turn the pump off and on.
If the pump runs all the time then your fill/shore water selector is turned the wrong way and the pump is pulling water from the tank to try and fill the tank

You can use it to fill the water tank by using the anti-freeze intake setup if no hose with pressure is available.

I know the pump should not run when I am filling. I filled at home and the pump did not run but could not get it to shut off, no matter which switch I turned on or off. I thought the one on the panel would be the master switch but it did not stop the pump from running when filling. Tried shutting the switch off in the bathroom and in the basement but will have to see if one was on the whole time. Maybe that was the issue, I tried shutting things off but always had at least one switch on?

Pump should only run when you turn on a faucet, if it runs all the time then the tank fill/shore water selector is set wrong OR the check valve at the pump is bad and not allowing pressure to build so the pump shuts off.
I've forgotten to turn the selector switch MANY times!

X2 Mr. D.
Make sure ALL switches are truned off. A drop in pressure, IE, water selector switch in the basement will cause a drop in pressure and the pump will come on to pressure up the system.

I just went out anddid a test...with the valve rotated to water fill and a switch is in the on position the water pump runs but pumps no water. On my unit the switch is on if the toggle pushed at the top and off if pushed at the bottom. True on all 3 switches. Hopes this helps.

Dan place all switch's in the off position and close the fresh water tank fill valve off.
The switch's should be in the down position, bottom of switch on mine.
I have four switch's because of bath 1/2 coach.
I had same problem with everyone operating a different switch and not returning to the normal off position so made orders no one operates a switch and I only operate the one in the over head display area.
If after you do all this still a problem than you may need a new control or if you find the control, which I never had in my ten year coach, you could possibly have a crossed wiring.
Water pump control wiring.

Thanks everyone for your info. I went out last night and shut off all three switches and it turned off. Thanks
Dan

Just remember that all 3 switches are independent of each other. However, the little green light will indicate that one of the 3 pump switches is in the ON position. Isn't it fun to debug these crazy little things?

Dan - I also have an '05 DSDP (4024 Floor plan). Here's what I've found: If the switch on the pump will turn on whenever there is a water demand. If I forget to turn that switch on then I can use the one in the bathroom or the one outside to save running back to the front of the coach. The only time I turn on the main switch is when I'm disconnected to shore water. And as others have said make sure your tank fill lever is not in the fill position when you're on the pump.
