2006 Essex - What is the "Water valve solenoid"?

I de-winterized my coach today and found a leak. Leak is coming from this part called "Water valve solenoid". It is mounted to the fresh water tank and has several plumbing connections. One connection is coming from the 3-way valve that allows me to direct water into the tank.

It is described as a solenoid which suggests there is some kind of wiring, fusing and perhaps even a switch. I haven't seen any wiring or fuses. Until it broke, I was completely unaware of its existence.

The part is obsolete and has been replaced by something completely different looking... and the new part has wires! But it does not have any plumbing connections.

The leak is minor and only happens while adding water to the fresh water tank. I am optimistic about trying to repair the problem.

While this situation is not critical, I would like to know more about this part and its functionality.

Can anyone explain this part to me? (new part is at the bottom).

Thanks

On my Essex, the solinoid valve is for auto tank fill when set in the proper position on the 3 way valve.

The new part is a solenoid valve. The plumbing connections are behind the red covers on the brass part of the valve.

It looks like the old valve had a connector of some type on the top. There should be a mating connector where you removed the valve that you would attach the wires to. It looks like there are only two ports on the new valve where there are at least three on the old one.

This system was used for years on the higher-end Newmar coaches, so if someone on this forum can't point you in the right direction a service tech who knows Newmars will be able to install it.
