2007 MADP - Solar not charging?

Just purchased a 2007 Newmar MADP - extremely happy with it - just drove it 2100 miles in 3 days home after a great stop at Speedco (love those guys).

It drives like a dream. Now I am neck deep in electrical wiring diagrams and fuse boxes trying to fix all the issues (good news is I have already fixed a few!).

I have it parked on the side of my house for now not plugged in. The batteries were almost dead this morning!! I haven't found the location of the "salesman switch" - but did run the generator and charged the batteries today and hit the battery disconnect - will go out and turn on the LP switch, but the trailer brake controller is still showing power.

What is not showing power is the solar charging system. I cleaned the solar panel on the roof and started to trouble shoot. The manual says to disconnect the solar panel from ILW-1 and use a multi meter. I pulled out the ILW-1 but didn't have the heart to cut the red and black wires just to test the voltage. Any thoughts/ideas?

Thanks!

2007 MADP - Solar not charging?

I pulled the fuse on mine and checked it there. My led light does not work so cannot really tell from looking at the led.
Also mine is a very low wattage panel I think it is only supposed to help offset some parasitic loads.

Hi rjohnson01,
The disconnect switch that is inside the coach is the salesmen's switch. On the solar charger. Are you just not seeing the little red light or is something else saying the solar charger is not working?

If you are just not seeing the little red light, do not worry. The light is there to provide a warm fuzzy to the coach owner. My light was our for months before I got it fixed. During that time, the solar panel kept doing its' job.

The red light indicator, not working, on dash is a known problem. Likely your 5 watt solar panel is working. Here is an interesting link showing installation of a voltage meter to replace the led indicator. http://www.irv2.com/forums/f103/dutc...ml#post2672331

Good Luck!
