2008 Newmar Essex Fuel Filter locations

First I would like to thank everyone for the amazing forum that has really helped me over the years. I just purchased a 2008 Newmar Essex and like all used vehicles I purchase I change all the fluids, belts and filters. Well I am almost done with everything but for the life of me I can not find the secondary fuel filter.

Now I have called Spartan (I ordered all the parts from them directly) they said it had two filters. Well I called again today and after being bounced around between different departments I was told they don’t know where the secondary filter is installed but “It does have a second fuel filter”

I have searched online and through the forum and can not find anything that would guide me to it. Below is a picture of the filter / battery compartment where most say it should be but as you can see it is not there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Often, the secondary fuel filter is on the engine.

What engine do you have?

Have you traced the fuel line from the primary fuel filter (the filter with the clear bowl) to the engine?

I have a Cummins engine and the layout is different but just going by looks, the white item with a bowl on the bottom is the water separator filter, the orange thing is the fuel filter that has valves on each side to shut off the fuel flow while changing, (wish I had valves) and the big black thing looks like an air desiccant filter. Someone correct me if you know I am wrong.

What kind of an item are you looking for to be a fuel filter?

As for routing, I think my fuel goes through the separator, (low psi) to the engine pump, (80 psi range) then through fuel filter and to the injector pump, (thousands psi range). Follow the lines if you think you have something different.

You say you got all the parts from Spartan, post a picture of the filter you can't find, possibly we can help.

It's a Cummins 500HP ISM. The filter with the valves is actually the coolant filter (new one arriving tomorrow to replace) the other is the filter for the air system.

Here is a picture of the filter they sent me

What you posted says "water separator" on it, doesn't the plastic bowl screw on one end of it? Did they send you two different brands of water separators, they look the same.

My lowly 380 Cummins doesn't have a coolant filter, I just age it out for a while, then change it.

They are telling me that that is the filter that is separate from the fuel water separator

Possibly check the Fleetguard and Parker numbers again to see if they are the same cross reference filter. If there's another big white filter like that on your engine, can't imagine you wouldn't see it.

Outside possibility the fuel filter and water separator are all in one unit?
