2008 Newmar Grand Star roof leak

We purchased a 2008 Grand Star a couple of months ago. We noticed water coming in above the driver's side window on our last trip. We had it in to replace the TV antenna that was damaged by not putting it down and having trees attack. We asked about the roof leak and the tech said it looked like it had been leaking for a while. Her guess was $10,000.00 to repair. Is the price in the ballpark to replace roof and whatever is under the rubber roof?
Thanks for any help. This is our first RV so we are still learning how all this works.

Hi LWD1946,
Take this one step at a time.
1. The roof is Brite-Tec or fiber glass not rubber.
2. Stop the water intrusion. This usually the running lights at the top of the cap. Depending on your coach it could be from another openings or where the cap joins the roof. Or where the roof joins the side of the coach. It may be from the antenna, where it connects to the roof. Water goes downhill but not necessarily in a straight line.
3. The bottom line is seal all possible points of intrusion. There are all kinds of sealants you can use. Depending on the opening I use:
3a Flex Seal Products
3b Eterna-Bond

Once the roof is sealed do nothing. Give it several months to dry out. Then inspect the roof. Is the front softer than the rear of the roof when walking on it? If no, you are done.

Welcome to the forum,LWD.
You said water was coming through the driver side window?
On top of the window outside the window has a seal that may have dried out and cracked from heat and hot sun baking on it.
Take a look and if the sealant has dried use a plastic tool and remove as much as possible and reseal with good sealant.
Had same problem with passenger side window and water was getting the rug wet traveling down the A frame of windshield.
If its your roof much worst because of paneling backing and possible leak hide on the radius panel between roof and sidewall.
As your coach gets older all window seals, floor level seals if not painted, vertical seals around end caps and roof vents and roof to side wall wraps need to be checked.
Some roof repair links --- # 1---- #2 --- #3.
All the links below in my signature have info for your Newmar.
Good luck let us know how you make out.
