2008 Ventana 3933
Wife and I are thinking about purchasing a pre-owned 2008 Ventana 3933. It has the Cummins 350 HP Diesel motor. Like to know if this is a good RV. Also if this is a good motor.

Is it the ISC or ISL? The ISC is a great engine. Some of the ISL's had wrist pin problems and Cummins has a special warranty policy on them. Other than those serial #'s the ISL is also a great engine and otherwise it's a great engine too.
Our first DSDP (2000) 3865 had the CAT 3126 and our last one (2002 4090) the ISC 350 although I added a Banks kit to it.
The ISL might get better mileage too.
Our present rig weighs 50,000#'s and we tow a Honda Odyssey (4,500#'s) and doesn't get much worse mileage than the ISC did also towing the Ody.

We have an '11 Ventana we purchased used a year ago and love it. It's got the 350 Cummins and so far so good with it. We did have to replace the fan clutch shortly after the purchase but ours was covered under the chassis warranty. I don't know the '08 engines would have the same problem.

We had the 350 in an 08 Ventana 3330 and loved it. Our coach would have been a little lighter than the 39' you are looking at but should be fine.

Just got back from Petoskey and ran like a dream. Just a tip, keep your VGT turbo brake on all the time while driving, keeps the parts in the turbo moving. It is a ISBXT meaning extra torque, 750 ftlbs.

And also make absolutely sure you have a button for the VGT turbo brake. Mine DID not!

We also have an '08 Ventana 3960 with a 330 ISC Cummins. Just finished a little 240 mile round trip towing, for the first time, a 4500 lb GMC Canyon 4X4.
We live on the North Olympic Peninsula where mountains are mountains...and had no problem pulling some pretty good grades.
Have had this unit for almost a year and very happy.
Cheers,
Don

Here is a brochure for the 2008 Ventana. For some reason Newmar does not have one in their archives. As Wayne mentioned, it has a 350HP ISBXT on a Spartan chassis.
