2009 Cummins 400 isl
Purchased my 2010 DSDP 4386 3 Years ago. The engine is a 2009 Cummins 400 ISL. It had 40k moles when purchased. I have put an additional 27k miles. Once per year I have got a check engine warning about crank case filter replacement. Which I have done, including yesterday. The engine runs perfect, losses no oil, I've been over the Rockies at least twice the last 3 years with no power loss. Any ideas. Tia.

What does the crank case filter look like when you pull it?
Mine has never been replaced, and no check engine lights .

I was just at Camp Freightliner and the normal change interval for the crank as filter is 150K miles or 60 months.

I have same year motor and mileage, I have replaced that filter once and it still looked like new. I have never seen a light for it. A friend has the same thing and his had the EGR cooler leak, this model had big problems with that. His filter was completely plugged up with crud. My oil samples come back clean I use no antifreeze or oil. I will probably skip changing that filter again this year. Gonna have to look in book and see about this light ,where it is.

IMO, this is important^^.
From reading other responses and doing a bit of research, if the filter is clogged after such short a time, something is amiss, possibly excessive blow-by. My guess is the warning light is due to excessive crankcase pressure cause by a restricted filter element, but others will have to confirm or deny.
Bottom line, if the filters are "clean", then it may be just a sensor issue. If they are dirty or clogged, I suspect a more serious problem.
