2009 Newmar Canyon Star paint finish

I recently noticed that the frame (the aluminum strap that outlines the door) around the basement storage doors have places that are showing bubbling on the paint. Popping one of these bubbles revealed intergranular corrosion. NEWMAR Corp stated that the paint was only warrantied for 1 year. I began looking at the other basement doors and each one seems to have areas that are identical.

Has anyone else found this on their coach? Doesn't look like Newmar is going to do anything on their part so now what?

Ours is starting to show some of it, but ours is a 2002 so I don't expect anything from Newmar.
Newmar used to have a three year warranty but took an owner survey and found the longer warranty was down the list of things that owners looked for so they dropped it.
Had you brought it to their attention before the warranty ran out they probably would fix it, now you're on your own. Get an estimate and have the work done or not. That's what happens when warranties run out unless you can get them to cover it somehow.

Dennis - I have a 2010 model and haven't seen any evidence of the problem but I'm not quite sure what you are referring to as the frame of the storage bay doors. Is it possible to post a picture of your problem?

Escalate your concerns with Newmar management. They frequently make exceptions.

That is not good, especially on that new a coach! I second Dirk's suggestion on contacting Newmar for some help.

As an aside, my doors do not have a frame like that.....they are smooth all across. Perhaps Newmar made a change from 09 to 10 ?

We have a 2009 Canyon Star that we purchased new in NE Florida and have had the same problem with paint on compartment doors. Newmar corrected it when it was under warranty. Have just noticed that problem has occurred again. Have not addressed it with Newmar yet. I contacted Newmar about a problem with the door jamb that is separating. It was repaired once but have the same problem again. I agree you should contact Newmar as this seems to be a problem at the time of assembly. Newmar needs to find out who was working on the units at this time.
