2011 MADP vs 2012 MADP

Hey Everyone and Good Morning,

Our search is winding down and I have general question for you all. The 2011 Mountain Aire was on a Spartan Chassis with 425hp and the 2012 was on a Freightliner Chassis with 450hp. The 2011 came without DEF and the 2012 had DEF. We are interested in the 4336 or the 4344. Would anyone be willing to comment on their likes or dislikes for either or both of these coaches.
Thank you very much in advance

Jeff and Lynn Stevenson

Just a quick FYI that my 2011 MADP is on a non DEF Freightliner chassis. 2011 was a transition period so you may find that there is some variation in the set up.

As for Spartan vs Freightliner, that is among the many "great debates". Both are excellent. If I was looking it would be for a non DEF rig. You get a bit more basement storage. In addition I have always preferred a gas stove top but my all electric rig has been a pure pleasure. The stove hits just as quick (for me) as a gas set up and I don't have to mess with propane any more. Along with a residential refer it was a major improvement as far as I am concerned.

Since you are looking at either a 2011 or a 2012 you can't make a bad choice.

Welcome to the forum.
Here is one of a few threads on DEF that maybe of interest to you.
You can type in DEF in this search link and pick up the rest of them.
Here is a Brochure 2011 ----- 2012 ---- and Owners Guide 2011 ----- 2012.
Good luck in your pursuit.

Hello Jeff426
We have a 2011 4344 MA on a Freightliner chassis with a 450hp Cummins with Def. This is a nice set-up. We tow a Tahoe and as long as you keep the rpms up going up hills it does good. We have not had any problems with the FW slide. The all electric coach seems to be working out nice. We have been in temps down to about 5 degs and the Oasis heating system has been great.
Good Luck
JP
