2012 King Aire - anything to lookout for?

About to purchase a 2012 King Aire with the 605 ISX - anything to lookout for?

Seems to be well cared for, looks impeccable.

Is it true the coach don't need to be level to put out slides? Simply let the air system give its best effort and let me go!

Do any of the plugs NOT run on inverter? Current coach has 2 plugs next to bed that only work with generator or shore power. Quite annoying.

Your 2012 KA either has a 600HP or 650HP. Starting in 2017 the ISX was changed and was now called X-15 which was 605HP. If you do have the 650HP which has a different valve arrangement then the lower HP units which can be very expensive and troublesome.
There are location that owners shouldn't open their slides because of the sloop. At this time Newmar is suggesting that slides should be opened and closed at ride height then level the coach.
Items like washer and drier aren't hot when on inverter but it sounds like those that aren't working except on shore and gen. has a problem.
Always remember tires and batteries for the KA. We just bought new tires which would be the same size as the KA and cost 8300$. Batteries might also be needed and KA can have 16 coach batteries at 200$ plus cost each.
The good looks says lot about the coach and with new KA at 1.4 million it's worth putting money into the unit.

Drove the 2012 I'm looking at - plenty power sure feels much more peppy than my Phaeton's Cat 350. Heck even has more giddy up than my pickup truck!

Any way to archive or save the camera data? Would be great if a theft or road incident occured.

600HP and even 500HP ISX of that generation have the same valve issue.

ISL is the lower HP design that does not.

It’s either a 600 hp or a 650 hp not 605hp

Like Tom said above….careful if it’s a 650hp isx….which was a cm871 engine….if it’s a 600 hp cm870,the engine is likely ok……..if it’s the 650hp cm871,and if the heads, rings etc haven’t been updated, then as a preventative measure you can plan on spending ballpark 20k,if you let it go it’s only a matter of time before a valve breaks which then damages other components and most report spending around 40k at that point…..once the update is done to the 650 isx, they seem to be fine…..that vintage of coach would not have the x15 605 h.p. So it’s very important in my opinion to determine which engine it has…if there is any doubt, enter the v.I.n. Into the Cummins site,or simply call Cummins with the vin…..other than the engine question that vintage should be a great coach….good luck….

Where at Cummins.com do I see if this beast has or had valve issues?

Cummins quickserve

if you sign up for a Cummins account, you can then enter the engine serial number and see the history that Cummins has for it,or it would be a quick phone call and ask Cummins about the history,of course if work was done at an independent shop,Cummins may not have record of it…I would also ask the seller for the papertrail…..since the 650 valve issues are well known,I would think any prior owner that had it updated would save that documentation,as it helps the resale value….if the engine is a cm870 600 h.p. I wouldn’t be overly concerned…good luck p.s. hopefully it’s not a seller representing it as a 605 knowing it’s a 650,or anything along those lines…

Is the cm870 the one with the dry PTO concern? I know CC owners had a wet kit available. Foretravel owners are stuck periodically lubing the PTO with grease since there's no room for a wet kit. Not sure about Newmar.
