2012 Mountain Aire Slide won’t retract all the way
Hello! I searched the forum and don’t really see this issue covered. Our bedroom slide out has always been weird. When we bought it we found multiple items in its way (small toy football, can of Lysol), but it has still gotten worse and worse over time. Used to we could push on the outside when it would go in and it would seal up but now it won’t. There are metal brackets at the bottom that are holding it off now and it won’t even get close. Last trip we made it even walked itself out about 6” while driving. The top is fine but the bottom is out where those metal brackets should start to move out of the way but they are not. Any ideas???
Photos uploaded to the side…need to rotate 90 degrees clockwise.

There should be a threaded rod with 2 sets of jam nuts near each end. One set controls how far it opens, and the other how far it closes. Sounds like the one set might have backed out some? You can tell which jam nuts control what by checking which are pushing against the metal frame when in or out. If this is your bed slide, the rod and nuts will be under the bed platform. If wardrobe slide, the rod is exposed when the slide is out.

Ok I’ll look for the set on the other end. It is the bed side, and I did see 2 nuts on the rod on one end about in the middle of the bed…but didn’t think to look for the ones on the other end that would be against the wall. I bet they have worked themselves out…that would explain why it just keeps getting worse! Thank you!

Slide Rod adj nuts
High-Jacking post with similar issue.
My 2015 DutchStar FWS recently developed an issue related to the adjustment rod stops, I found getting it right is not as simple as it appears? My FWS is on DS, it has 3 stop/limit adjusting Rods. While at the wet bay, I noticed on the rear rod, the outside two nuts had become loose so I retightened them. On departure, I noticed the slide wasn’t closing all the way. I then figured out the inside nuts control the “closed” position so I readjusted them, then it closed too far.
Those that have this figured out please chime in here:
It seems while the inside nuts control closed position, moving the outside nuts changes the rod location relative to the slide which changes both closed and open stopping points? Am I understanding this right? Does one need to set the slide open stop point (outside nuts) before adjusting the closed stop point (inside nuts). It still isn’t quite right… TIA

A FWS is definitely more complex with 3 rods. My best 2 pieces of advice: 1) Mark your starting positions on the rods so you can always go back to "home." 2) Make small adjustments and test. The in versus out work independently, so one will not affect the other.
