2014 King Aire (new)
Just purchased a new 2014 King Aire and when we got it home I noticed that there was a leak (steady drip) coming from the Black tank gate valve. The coach is brand new and the dealer is over 200 miles (one way) from us.
I would think that the reason for the leak is that the "black tank seal" has somehow gone bad and that it should be a fairly easy fix.
My question is has anyone out there tackled this job before? and if so, how tough a job is it to replace the seal (I see there are 4 bolts to loosen) but am afraid to tackle this without some feedback from this forum.

Pretty straight forward.. Loosen he 4 bolts seperate the pipes ...lube new valve seals..and reassemble ...
Giving the tank a good rinse will make it more tolerable..

The coach is brand new and no solids at all have been put in the tank, do you think if I just lube the old seal it will hold or should I ask Newmar to send new seals?

Unless its some type of special valve...the gilotine valves are basically all the same..Pretty cheap $20 Just replace the entire valve seals and all.. If the tank is new .. It would be a piece of cake.....

Changing the valve is an easy job provided ..... you can get access to all 4 bolts with a wrench and there is room to flex the pipes apart to get old valve out/new valve in. Hints: 1. drain tank before beginning job 2. smear vaseline/grease on seal, this will help hold in place while installing valve.

Had the same problem when MH was brand new,still at the dealer.
They installed a new valve, the old valve had a lot of fiberglass /plastic fuzz
wool in it.

Heh, easy fix that worked out well! If that is the only thing that is wrong with a brand new coach, than Newmar did a spectacular job of quality control! Take care,
