2015 DSDP battery Voltage
The max voltage reading I get on my Magnum panel is 12.8 after fully charging house batteries.
What's normal?

In the range of 12.7 charged and approx. 13.7 while bulk charging.

That's perfectly normal. Wait around 5 hrs without any load on them and after the temp drops back from charging and they will be around 12.4-5. That is a good fully charged reading indicating about 75% of the virtual capacity of a fully charged new properly broken in battery, (which of course is a pipe dream with the conditions we use them under).

Hi Golferdave78,
The answer is it all depends. One needs to know how the Magnum panel is receiving the reading.
1. Is the charger remaining in float mode once the batteries are fully charged? If yes, 13.3 to 13.5 would be normal for fully charged batteries when the converter is in float mode.
2. Does the converter shut down when the batteries are fully charged and then monitor them to start up again at the appropriate time. If this is true, the 12.8 reading is a good reading.
While having batteries with no load is an ideal condition to take a reading. When connected to a Newmar coach, there is no way I know of to have installed batteries without some load being placed on the batteries.

What Gary said. Does the remote say FULL CHARGE?
This is from the manual for my older Magnum.
Quote:
Full Charge – This status indicates that you have entered the Battery
Saver™ mode. This mode maintains the batteries without overcharging, thus
preventing excessive loss of water in fl ooded batteries or drying out of GEL/
AGM batteries. After 4 hours Float Charging, the charger will turn off and “Full
Charge” is displayed (charger is now in Battery Saver™ mode). If the battery
voltage drops to ≤12.6 (12-volt models), ≤25.2 (24-volt models) or ≤50.4
(48-volt models), the charger will automatically initiate another 4 hours of
Float Charging. This cycle helps to ensure the batteries are monitored and
maintained, and continues as long as AC power is continuously connected
to the AC input.

Heh GaryKD; If you have an isolator switch you can get all the heavy loads off, or just shut everything down that you can and then remove the negative terminal cable at the battery. It's probably not the kind of thing you want to do while actively using the MOHO, but it makes a good project for checking the batt. before you leave on a trip. Bob
