Deek- I'm not going to be a ton of help here as my exposure to the radio was at the Hershey show briefly after my test drive. I have no knowledge of prior year systems so I can't compare but I thought the radio speakers in the DS I drove sounded terrible. It may have been that the settings were off, I don't know. The speakers were very shallow sounding lacking quality tone. IMO, in order to have a good sounding system, it needs to have separate speakers for highs, midrange and lows. I saw/heard two combo speakers. I plan to up grade the speakers after we take delivery. As for the radio itself, I didn't have much time to play with it so maybe someone who has recently taken delivery will chime in. It seemed to have plenty of power to the point of making the speakers distort.

That's really disappointing to hear, Rich. The speakers in my '13 Ventana LE were terrible, couldn't listen to the stereo. I tried to find something to replace them and had no luck. Newmar was apparently listening to our complaints and have upgraded the speakers in 2015 models to fix this problem but it sounds like they still aren't a good enough quality.

PDRJohn recently posted a thread for the replacement of those speakers in his DS, might have to follow that path.

... or use headphones!

Hi Scott,
This is Roger M, and I tried to reply to your recent private message to me, but somehow it doesn't seem to be working. Anyway I want to thank you for all the valuable information you provided. It certainly seems ordering a new coach is the way to go. If I may ask, what does Newmar require in the form of payment before a build is started? Does Coach Light handle the money side, and do they offer financing? Thanks again for all the comments, and I appreciate you allowing me to pick your brain on this matter. This search for the right coach is very challenging. I wish you a very Happy New Year, and miles of pleasure in your new DS....

When you get your coach, you may find the system sounds good to you. What I think sounds poor may be just fine for the next guy. I have been accused of being over critical by my DW! Too many years as a musician I guess. I read PDRJohns' upgrade post and I think he's right on. Crutchfield has a decent line of speakers that will kick the system up a couple of notches. I'll be curious to hear what you think after the 5th.

After delivery I got a better idea. I took out the bottom drawer and rail from the center stack and the shelf from the rear vanity. Cut an opening in the wall between the drawers and the vanity. Now I can open the door to clean the cat box and our cat does not carry litter out on her paws to the tile. She had no difficulty finding the way into the box. When we sell the coach, I can put the drawers back, and the vanity door is not altered.
I am sure you will enjoy your new coach. Midway is a good deal ship to work with.
Andy, thanks for the sugestion. Sounds better than mine. Thanks much.

We ordered the 24th of November and am told delivery will be April 21 so not sure how late we can still make changes. Should we go to the dealer first or call Newmar to ask about any more additional special items?
Dealer will add grab bars. Dealer had factory add reinforcement on wall in 1/2 bath and will add bar in full bath between cabinets on rear. Cedar lining was just in rear wardrobe. I think they would have raised the toilets 3" if desired. We went through dealer. I'm sure you have time, since we just finalized our order last week and ours was ordered Nov. 18.

Don''t know. In our 2002 DS, water pressure when showering always seemed low. Someone on the board suggested this as an upgrade.

I notice CW sells a 2 1/2" riser that is about 15" square and mounts under the toilet. Looks like it could be either white plastic or china to match the stool. Do you have any idea what kind of riser Newmar uses or do they build up a platform for the stool to sit on? So many of these special items that sound terrific but can't be seen before we add them to our coach order is about to drive me up the wall. Spending this much money, which is way way more than I've ever done or would have even imagined I'd ever do, I'm trying to get it right the first time since this will probably be my last RV before I have to hang up my keys.

Has anyone ever measured the height of the stools as compared to our home toilets, I know I never even thought about it when going through the several DS that we did. Guess we were too taken back by all the other stuff to consider.

Deek,
The navigation equipped radio is a Clarion NX602. The standard non nav radio is a Sony WXGT90BT. Both radios can be ordered with or without Sirius receiver.
The Sony radio is blutooth equipped and can stream Pandora via USB or blutooth using a smart phone. It has I-phone control capability.

Here's the manual for the Dometic macerator toilet in the Dutch Star. This has all the dimensions. I have no idea what Newmar is using for the riser though. You will probably have to call them directly for that information.

Ordered a 4037 Ventana at the Hershey show from RVONE - due off the line late January - we are picking up at Tampa RV salesperson was Scott Hamilton. We got the fire place set up and used Dutch Star Bon Bon colors. Can't wait we are heading to Florida Monday for a couple of months - out with the old and in with the new. We are trading our 2003 Gulfstream Tourmaster which we have kept in like new condition - somebody will be getting a very very nice used RV.

Scotdog, congrats on the new coach:thumb RVOne did a fine job of representing both Newmar and Entegra at Hershey. They got my business as well. I hope your delivery goes well! I'm sure you are counting the days!
