2016 Ventana

Looking at 2016 Ventana 3436 with 360 Cummins. Looking for the good the bad and the ugly. Any advice much appreciated.

What transmission ?

I'll assume this is the 360 HP version of the Cummins ISB .

An Allison 2500 series could limit you to a very light toad to satisfy the transmission's max GCWR .
3000 series not an issue .

We have 2017 3609. Have experienced several "normal" issues, but love it. Far more enjoyable than our 2009 Ventana.

Ventana 3436

We have a 3436 and have enjoyed the coach. I am not retired yet, so we don’t get the chance to use it as much as we would like to!

Our prior coach was a '14 38' Ventana LE with the 340 hp/2500 trans. Other than horsepower, it drove well having a fairly long WB for a 38' coach. Now owning the '17 3436 Ventana we experience more effort in keeping the coach between the lines, although not to the level of being seriously unstable. It just requires more attentiveness in driving, particularly when on a busy freeway with a lot of truck traffic. The level of power (360 hp) does make a difference in a positive way, so that is noticeable at virtually all speeds and at initial acceleration. Hill climbing is not a great deal different from our previous coach though. It's better, but not to a great degree. The overall performance of the 3436, at rest and on the road, is very good and we don't have any regrets. Expect somewhere around 9 mpg overall if you keep the speed down, less than 65 or so. You are limited to 5K towing which some folks might not agree with, but that's the spec on the hitch. Good luck in your travels.

My 2014 Ventana 3436 w the 360 horse Cummins and Allison 3000 has served us well on several cross country trips. Comfortable to stay in, easy to drive and not too thirsty at the fuel pump. We have had no major problems, everything seems to work the first time every time. It has gone through one set of tires due to age, had new front shocks installed as well as the supersteer bellcrank. We loved the comfortable travel in the Ventana compared to our Rexhall Class A gasser. Unfortunately, the DW passed on so I'm parting ways with the Ventana and moving on to a different style of RV travel.

Agree with above comments on the 360 HP and 3000 Alison tranny. It's a good conbo.
Our '13 VTDP 3433 has served us well and a pleasure to drive.
Read up on the electric slides motor bolt issue on these and check the motors / brackets on any unit you are interested in. It is not avshiw stopper by any means and most owners have taken some action to mitigate the possible problems.

We have a VT 3709 2016 (purchased new) and have been very happy with it. Being from ND, the most coveted feature that we're missing is a heated floor. That seems pretty petty but it gets cold up here. If you don't often travel to cold climates - no problem.

The good bad and the ugly relative to what?

I have a '16 4040 with the 360/3000 combination. In the middle of a 3K mile trip currently. Its a super solid platform. Not the fastest, not the slowest. There aren't any ghosts here to be chasing.

Congrats ! Just be aware that most of the above comments were about the Ventana, and not the LE. You didn't mention what you plan to tow, but that's the biggest obstacle with the 2500 trans equipped coaches.

Here’s my two cents:
The good: Go out and see what you want and go where you want with who you want, when you want and enjoy.
The Bad: Walking past it in the morning in the driveway on your way to work when you want to be on the road somewhere else.
The Ugly: I can’t think of anything…………..except when we leave for home and dump the tanks.

Enjoy your new MOHO
